Requiem for an Azzies Receipt

A life short-lived
From life to death, all within 15 feet

I crumble you up like a piece of paper
Because you are one, you see?

A toss to the trash, I miss.
A few more seconds for you to exist in my consciousness

As your entirety slams to the tile floor, I think about what you could have been:

A grocery list?
A canvas?
A wall decoration?
Something useful?
Something wonderful?

Maybe.

But now my drink is here in my hand
And your whole purpose was to ensure this would happen, right?
No hard feelings
You've done your duty of existing, little paper!

My time with you is longer than usual,
but it has come to an end.

I pick you up, your form a crumbled mass
I spill a bit of hazelnut latte on my pants.

Damn.

Annoyed, I let you escape my grasp
you fall gently, and precisely into the trashcan
As my mind discards your existence.

Did I bring my stain remover pen? I'll never get this out.
